Local Spotlight - Greenville, MS

While Greenville, MS may be a small town, there is a lot of distinct history right in our backyard. Greenville, MS and surrounding areas is a part of the Mississippi Delta. The Mississippi Delta is known as “The Most Southern Place on Earth”. This two hundred mile long stretch of land was one of the richest cotton-growing areas in the nation. In addition, the Mississippi Delta is the home of blues and jazz music. Known as a “back road traveler’s paradise” by Southern Living, come on over and find out all that this great region has to offer.

If you’re looking to get out and explore nature in Greenville, MS, make sure you check out the Greenville Cypress Preserve. This beautiful, 16-acre preserve is open from dawn to dusk and offers trails, an observation deck, a boardwalk and pavilions. Don’t forget your bug spray!

If you’re a history buff, Greenville plays host to many great museums that are well worth the visit. Although it may be small, the 1927 Flood Museum is chock-full of history and information about the flood of 1927. In addition, there is the Greenville Air Force Base Museum, Old No. 1 Firehouse Museum, Greenville History Museum and the Century of History Museum at the Hebrew Union Temple.
